"Anytime BRGIE lobbyist takes 1 step to restore Biafra; I'll take 5 steps to stop them." -Orabueze

BRGIE's Steadfast Leadership Amid Challenges: Files Lawsuit Addressing Ngozi Orabueze's “criminal” claims

In the pursuit of Biafran sovereignty, the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) stands as the recognized authority leading the exile movement, guiding efforts rooted in the historical aspirations of the Igbo people post the Nigerian Civil War of 1967-1970. Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, a former high-ranking official within BRGIE, has recently issued a controversial statement: "Anytime BRGIE lobbyist “criminals” takes 1 step; I'll take 5 steps to stop them." The reference is to Moran Global Strategies - BRGIE lobbyists who are working in Washington in collaboration with US congress for the liberation and sovereignty of Biafra.

This statement, while reflective of her personal resolve, underscores the need for evidence-backed discourse which is now inevitable given the recent lawsuit by BRGIE and especially as BRGIE continues to steer the cause forward under Prime Minister Simon Ekpa, despite recent legal developments in Finland.

Orabueze, a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Atlanta, Georgia, previously served as Chief of Staff for BRGIE under Ekpa. Her contributions placed her at the heart of advocacy for Biafran independence. However, her expulsion from BRGIE in February 2025, amid allegations of misconduct, marked a turning point. This led to BRGIE filing a lawsuit against her in a U.S. court in June 2025, accusing her of fraud, attempting a hostile takeover, and misappropriating databases and assets of the Indigenous People of Biafra . Orabueze now faces the responsibility of defending herself in this ongoing legal battle, which could clarify the validity of the claims.

In response, Orabueze has aligned with what appears to be an alternative structure, possibly the United States of Biafra Government (USBG), where she is regarded by some as a leading figure. Her vow targets BRGIE lobbyists who are working in Washington in collaboration with US congress for the liberation and sovereignty of Biafra—whom she has accused of and explicitly labeled as "criminal lobbyists". However, with the lawsuit progressing, she must produce concrete evidence to support her allegations against these "criminal lobbyists," as unsubstantiated claims could hinder broader progress.

Rebuttal statement from Biafran Defense forces?

Orabueze has made similar accusation on General Igwe Butuzor, a key defender of BRGIE's operations who has countered her claims. Butuzor has accused her of undermining the movement, including acting as an informant for external interests.

BRGIE remains the central government in charge, steadfast in its mission despite external pressures, including Ekpa's recent conviction in Finland on charges related to his advocacy, which supporters view as politically motivated. This development has not deterred the movement; instead, it highlights the international challenges faced by separatist causes. Orabueze's background as an advocate for peace, justice, and equity adds weight to her voice, but her efforts would be most effective when aligned with the unified structure under BRGIE.

The Biafran movement, inspired by figures like Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB, thrives on collective strategy rather than isolated challenges. While Orabueze's erroneous pledge to counter every step of BRGIE lobbyist reflects her misjudgment, selfishness and overzealousness, it is through evidence and collaboration that true advancement occurs. BRGIE's leadership continues to provide the framework for international recognition, ensuring that the dream of Biafra advances steadily, undeterred by individual disputes.

Unity under established governance is key to overcoming historical injustices and achieving lasting sovereignty.
